KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: Traffic and rescue teams apprehended an armed man after a dramatic high-speed chase that began in Salwa and ended in Abu Al-Hasaniya. The chase, which extended to Al-Julai’a, resulted in the suspect colliding with two patrol vehicles, damaging one, and injuring two Hawalli rescue officers. Authorities seized a firearm and a bottle of alcohol from the suspect, who is now facing multiple charges, including possession of an unlicensed firearm, resisting arrest, reckless driving, damaging state property, and attempting to escape.

Initial investigations revealed the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and potentially narcotics, which are being analyzed by forensic experts. The Interior Ministry received a report about a man driving an American vehicle at an erratic speed in Salwa. When officers attempted to stop him, he fled, leading to a pursuit that spanned multiple areas. Security personnel eventually cornered him in Abu Al-Hasaniya by blocking all escape routes, forcing him to surrender after his vehicle was rendered inoperable.

A security source confirmed that the injured officers have been treated and discharged from the hospital. The suspect, who has a criminal record and a prior prison sentence, has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
