30,000 passengers expected per day

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: Although the decision to open operations of Kuwait International Airport to its full capacity came into force, this was seen only in theory as on ground level there was very little movement with 146 arrival and departures.

Director of Operations Department at the airport, Mansour Al-Hashemi stated that as per the decision of Cabinet Ministers we coordinated with the authorities operating at Kuwait Airport and were briefed on the plan to operate the airport at its full capacity. Also all the airlines, tourism and travel companies were informed of full capacity operation of  Kuwait International Airport for arrivals and departures without any conditions or restrictions but to follow guidelines set by health authorities, reports Al Rai. He further stated that 146 flights arrived and departed to several destinations mostly to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Europe. We expect the number of arrivals and departures will reach about 30,000  per day.

The Deputy Director-General for Planning and Projects Affairs in the General Administration of Civil Aviation, Engineer Saad Al-Otaibi stated that there is permanent coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior operating at the airport. Both these government agencies have doubled their effort to make operations at Kuwait International Airport successful.

He further stated that increase in capacity of seats gives the market a balance between supply and demand in terms of ticket prices. For some destinations prices are still hgh due to high demand for them. October is not a travelling season and we hope the prices will be stable once again.
