KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that the Article Eight Affairs Office continues to act as a liaison between Kuwaiti women whose nationalities were revoked under Article Eight of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments by Decree-Law No. 158 of 2024 and relevant government agencies.
In a press statement, the ministry said the office has been actively monitoring the forms submitted by the affected individuals and responding to their inquiries. To date, 3,702 forms have been processed. The office has also handled numerous phone calls and provided detailed responses to questions regarding the individuals’ situations, offering clarification on related matters.
Furthermore, the Civil Service Council held its meeting (1-2025) on January 19, where it approved a mechanism for regulating contracts for the use of expertise by female employees affected by Article Eight. The Civil Service Bureau has been tasked with issuing a special form for these contracts, which will be circulated to all government ministries. This initiative aims to address the affairs of those whose nationalities were withdrawn.
The ministry added that several government agencies have already started listing the names of female employees covered under this provision and are contacting them to complete the contracting procedures per the approved contracts.
Additionally, the Article Eight Affairs Office has coordinated with the Ministry of Health to ensure that birth and death certificates for affected individuals are issued as per Law No. 36 of 1969 and its amendments. Effective immediately, these certificates will be available through the Births and Deaths Department in Hawalli Square during official working hours.
The office also announced that it has coordinated with the General Organization for Social Insurance regarding retirement pensions. According to the organization, pensions for female retirees whose nationalities were revoked will continue to be disbursed. The payments will be deposited directly into the retirees' bank accounts monthly after being audited and reviewed by the organization.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that the Article Eight Affairs Office will continue to monitor all developments concerning individuals whose nationalities were revoked under Article Eight and will, in coordination with the relevant authorities, regularly announce new facilities and services available to them.
