Artifacts discovered under burned section of Souq Mubarakiya

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 11: About three weeks ago, Kuwait Municipality teams uncovered a collection of artifacts including pitchers, plates, decorations, and stone columns that were buried in the burned section of Souk Mubarakiya during excavation work for the Mubarakiya reconstruction project, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that the area where the historical columns were found has been cordoned off, and the artifacts have been gathered in a designated location. The handling of these items will be overseen by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL), in coordination with the project consultant, to decide whether to integrate parts of the columns into the project or to extract them for display in a museum. The NCCAL will determine the dating and significance of the found pieces. Meanwhile, work on the remaining parts of the project will continue as scheduled. However, sources from the NCCAL indicated that they have not yet received information regarding these discoveries or the specifics of the pots and columns found.
