KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, and the Olympic Council of Asia, represented by First Vice President Timothy Focke, along with Second Vice President Dr. Thani Al-Kuwari and Director General Hussein Al-Musallam, signed the renewal agreement to host the headquarters of the Olympic Council of Asia in Kuwait.

Al-Kuwari expressed his joy at the five-year renewal of the agreement, which is automatically renewable, and noted, "The headquarters was originally in India, and since 1982, it has been moved to Kuwait."

He extended his sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the renewal, particularly His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, a steadfast supporter of Asian sports, and Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya. He also thanked the Kuwaiti government and people for their trust in hosting the council, emphasizing the positive impact this would have on the Asian sports movement.

Al-Musallam, speaking on behalf of the Asian sports community, expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and the Kuwaiti government for renewing the agreement. He highlighted that Kuwait has been hosting the Olympic Council of Asia since 1982, contributing significantly to the continent’s development in both technical and organizational aspects, as well as to the success of its champions on the international stage. He added, "The renewal is based on Law No. 6 of 2006, and this agreement, which had been suspended since 2015, has now been reinstated."
