KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The Ministry of Social Affairs is set to launch a new automated system project aimed at providing financial and administrative oversight for cooperative societies. This initiative is designed to strengthen control over the societies' funds, income, expenditures, and to track the activities of boards of directors, as well as the movement of goods sold and purchased.
According to sources, the project has been awarded to a company and is awaiting contract signing before work can begin. The system will involve the creation of a unified platform to monitor the strategic stock of essential items such as raw materials, food, medical supplies, and household products. It will also assess the quality of these goods and provide statistical data to forecast future needs. Additionally, the system will monitor the flow of raw materials, balance supply and demand, and track prices.
This project aims to provide decision-makers with detailed and accessible statistical data on each cooperative, allowing them to monitor aspects such as inventory levels, shareholder data, profit rates, supplier performance, employee affairs, salaries, and the overall financial and administrative performance of the societies.
The project aligns with the Ministry’s vision of expanding digital transformation and minimizing human intervention, as emphasized by Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah. The goal is to enhance control and monitoring of cooperative operations, including the management of shareholders’ funds, ensuring accountability and transparency.
The methodology for developing the system involves creating a data warehouse with a centralized database, which will be updated regularly through links with all cooperative societies. This database will serve as the primary source for data analysis and reporting through interactive dashboards. These dashboards will initially track strategic inventory quantities, shareholder performance, and supplier pricing, while also monitoring employee affairs and logistical operations.
The project will be carried out in phases. The first phase will focus on analyzing the requirements for the dashboards, designing the system's infrastructure, and linking data sources from the cooperatives to the Ministry’s central database. This phase will also involve developing and testing the dashboards and training users on their use.
In the second phase, the system will be fully integrated with the cooperatives to ensure accurate and timely data reporting. Quality control measures will be put in place to ensure data consistency, and the development of additional dashboards will expand the monitoring scope. Further training will be provided to new users on how to manage and create these dashboards.
The ultimate goal of this project is to streamline the monitoring process, improve efficiency, and ensure that cooperative societies operate with full transparency and accountability.
