KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reiterated its directive to domestic labor offices to avoid cash transactions. Acting Undersecretary for Supervision and Consumer Protection Affairs at the ministry Eng. Ahmed Falah Al-Mutairi affirmed to the Union of Domestic Labor Offices the importance of adhering to the ministerial Resolution No. 99/2022, which bans cash transactions for offices and companies involved in recruiting domestic workers. In an official letter to the union, Al-Falah reaffirmed the ministry’s continued commitment to enforcing the aforementioned resolution.
He urged domestic labor recruitment offices and institutions to comply with the provisions of the resolution and warned that legal action would be taken against any non-compliant offices. It is noteworthy that Law No. 99/2022 mandates that all licensed offices, institutions, and companies involved in domestic labor recruitment, including those with commercial licenses from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and licenses from the Public Authority for Manpower, must refrain from conducting cash transactions for any contract or transaction. It stressed the need to make payments through authorized cash payment instruments as allowed by the Central Bank of Kuwait.
