KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: The deadline for evaluating the appeals of disqualified candidates is on Nov 30, say reliable sources who explained that the deadline is set some days before Election Day to give the Ministry of Interior enough time to prepare and print the ballots which consist of the names of all candidates.

Meanwhile, official spokesperson of the government Tariq Al-Mezrem disclosed the Cabinet has invited Kuwait Transparency Society, Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) and Kuwait Journalists Society to closely monitor the parliamentary elections on Dec 5, 2020.

On the other hand, former MP Khalid Al-Shatti stressed the need to avoid speeches that negatively affect the national fabric. He warned such speeches divide society according to sects, classes and tribes. He pointed out that wrong decisions, especially those concerning the appointment of senior officials based on favoritism rather than competency, is the main reason behind the spread of corruption.

Head of the Emergency Team at the Kuwait Municipality branch in Farwaniya Governorate Ahmed Al-Shurika confirmed the removal of 150 election advertisements put up on State properties without a license, reports Al-Qabas daily In a statement to the daily, Al- Shurika disclosed the team visits houses where the photos of candidates are displayed in compliance with the directive of Municipality Director General Ahmed Al-Manfuhi and then records the violations of those who put up unauthorized advertisements.

He confirmed that the team closed a café in Farwaniya for serving hookah to customers in violation of the health regulations laid down by the Ministry of Health, in addition to the demolition of camping sites in South Abdullah Al-Mubarak where various violations were uncovered. He explained that setting up car shades on State properties, including government buildings, without obtaining a permit from the Municipality is a violation of relevant laws and regulations.
