KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Bahrain Film Festival 2023 was launched on Thursday, October 5, under the patronage of Bahraini Minister of Information Ramzan Al-Nuaimi, with the participation of 117 short Arab films. The festival is being held under the slogan “Celebrating the Art of Filmmaking” and includes four main categories: the Bahraini Film Competition, in which 19 films compete, short narrative films, in which 76 films compete, documentary films, in which 15 films compete, and the Animation Film Competition, in which 6 films compete.
The festival presents a unique opportunity to compete and discover creativity in the cinematic field, and it also opens doors to participate in more advanced experiences, according to the Bahraini Minister of Information. The festival is also an opportunity to show the culture of the Kingdom of Bahrain to external communities, whether at the regional or international level and to convey the message of national cohesion and the cultural Bahraini character, starting from Dilmun until what it has reached now.
The festival will present a number of specialized workshops and seminars in the field of filmmaking in cooperation with leading regional and international bodies, in addition to film screenings and accompanying events in the presence of an elite group of movie stars in the GCC and the Arab world. Film critic Abdel Sattar Naji, who chairs the jury of the Bahraini Film and Short Fiction Competition, praised the level of organization of the organizing committee, the Ministry of Information, and the Cinema Club for this festival and the cinematic works presented
