KUWAIT CITY, March 27: The Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait observed the “Independence and National Day” at the Chancery on Tuesday, March 26, with due fervor and festivity. Presided over by H.E. Major General Md Ashikuzzaman, ndc, afwc, psc, G(Retd.), Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, embassy officials, members of the Bangladeshi community and representatives of the print and electronic media were present at the program. The program started at the embassy premises with the hoisting of the National Flag ceremoniously by H.E. Ambassador Major General (Retd.) Md Ashikuzzaman in the presence of embassy officials, members of Bangladesh diaspora and representatives of the print and electronic media. Later the ambassador along with other officers and officials of the embassy placed floral wreath before the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The discussion session of the program started with the recitation from the Holy Quran.

The messages conveyed by the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh were read out by the senior officials of the embassy. During the program, a short video documentary on the occasion of the great Independence and National Day was displayed. The ambassador in his closing remarks paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. He also paid tribute to the three million martyrs, two hundred thousand women, and all the valiant freedom fighters for their extraordinary contributions and great sacrifices during the Liberation War in 1971.

He highlighted the development of Bangladesh under the charismatic leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister H.E. Sheikh Hasina. Ambassador urged upon the expatriate community to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu and devote themselves to build ‘Sonal Bangla’ (Golden Bengal) dreamt by Bangabandhu and work together with utmost sincerity and integrity to improve the image of the country. He also thanked all the people who were present at the discussion session. At the end, special prayers were offered for the salvation of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the members of his family, the valiant freedom fighters who laid down their valuable lives for the independence of the country, the wounded freedom fighters, and for continued peace and progress of the country.
