KUWAIT CITY, Sep1 21: Kuwait Airport Customs officers at Terminal 5 have foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances into the country, the General Administration of Customs said on Monday.
The seizure was carried out in the presence and under the supervision of Saleh Mohammed Al-Omar, Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs for Ports Affairs, Search and Investigation.
The suspect, who had arrived from Bangladesh, was subjected to a detailed inspection that resulted in the seizure of 4.750 kilograms of marijuana, packed in three bags, and 319.3 grams of methamphetamine (crystal meth) contained in six bags.
Customs officers also found 31 bags containing 6,211 ecstasy tablets, classified as psychotropic substances.
A seizure report is being prepared and the required customs and legal procedures are being completed before the suspect and the confiscated drugs are referred to the General Department for Narcotics Control and Alcohol for further action.
The General Administration of Customs said its inspectors continue to strengthen controls at all customs entry points and take firm action against attempts to smuggle narcotics and psychotropic substances, in an effort to protect public security and community safety.
