LOS ANGELES, July 23: Beyoncé's hit song "Freedom" set the stage for Vice President Kamala Harris’ debut as a presidential candidate on Monday, just one day after President Joe Biden endorsed her as his successor. Although Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris, she granted permission for her track from the Lemonade album to be used throughout Harris’ campaign.

According to CNN, Beyoncé approved the use of "Freedom" mere hours before Harris delivered her first public address as a presidential contender at her Wilmington, Delaware headquarters. The track played during Harris' introduction and throughout her speech, which highlighted her commitment to fighting for a better future.

In her address, Harris, introduced by her husband Doug Emhoff, paid tribute to Biden and framed the upcoming election as a choice between freedom and chaos. “What kind of country do we want to live in: A country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law or a country of chaos, fear, and hate?” she asked the audience.

Beyoncé’s political support has been evident in the past. In 2020, she endorsed both Biden and Harris, urging voters to support the Democratic ticket. She also backed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race and performed the National Anthem at President Obama’s 2013 inauguration.

Harris’ campaign has received notable celebrity endorsements, including from Cardi B, Robert De Niro, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Additionally, Charli XCX showed her support on social media, with her tweet about Harris receiving nine million views within hours.

Harris’ mother, Tina Knowles, also publicly supported the vice president's campaign, posting a photo of the two women on Instagram with a caption praising President Biden’s decision to step aside and endorsing Harris for president.
