Queen Elizabeth.

LONDON, Jan 14, (Agencies): In her final year, Queen Elizabeth was acutely aware that time was running out, as revealed by royal biographer Robert Hardman in his upcoming book about King Charles. The monarch passed away on Sept 8, 2022, at the age of 96, marking the conclusion of her unprecedented 70-year reign. Hardman's book, "The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy," set to be released on Jan 18, provides fresh insights into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The precise cause of Queen Elizabeth's demise remains uncertain, attributed to a culmination of various health conditions she endured in her last year. Biographer Gyles Brandreth had previously suggested that the Queen battled myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer, although the palace chose not to officially comment on the matter.

Hardman, in an excerpt from his book, discloses that the Queen had recognized the medical prognosis, understanding that she wouldn't achieve the centenarian milestone like her mother, who passed away at 101 in 2002. Faced with this realization, she was determined to maximize the final year of her life. A friend, quoted in "The Making of The King," shares, "She had come to realize that the medical prognosis meant she was not going to emulate her mother and reach one hundred. So, she had been determined to make the most of that year. She made sure she had all the family over the summer, so that the young ones in particular would always be left with happy memories of her."
