A visitor views the drawings at the exhibition

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 29: An exhibition showcasing plastic drawings depicting birds observed in Kuwait was held at the Arts and Ahmed Al- Adwani halls in the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, reports Al-Rai daily. Kuwaiti artists, drawing inspiration from private photos captured by bird watcher Ahmed Salem, presented 77 paintings at the event. The exhibition was attended by notable figures including the Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, Tuba Sonmez, and the Pakistani Ambassador, Malek Farouk, along with the participation of 22 Kuwaiti plastic artists.

Organized under the auspices of the NCCAL, the exhibition commenced with a scientific lecture delivered by Ahmed Salem. During the lecture, Salem discussed various topics related to bird species globally and locally, highlighting their significance in both ancient and modern life, as well as their connection to heritage and art. Salem shed light on the global distribution and population of birds, emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts due to the threat of extinction faced by numerous species, including some observed within Kuwait and the Arabian Peninsula. He also shared insights into common bird species found in Kuwait and highlighted the significance of establishing national birds, such as the “Gangor” bird. The exhibition provided a platform for Kuwaiti artists to showcase their talent while raising awareness about the diverse bird species present in Kuwait and the need for their protection.
