KUWAIT CITY, April 22: A dramatic attempted robbery and assault in Maidan Hawally was swiftly solved after detectives used video footage captured by a building guard to identify and arrest the culprits—a young man and woman who targeted an Arab expatriate in broad daylight.

According to security sources, a 41-year-old victim filed a complaint at the police station stating he was attacked by two strangers—one male, one female—who attempted to steal his bag. The woman allegedly grabbed the bag, while the man launched into a physical and verbal assault when the victim resisted. The assailant reportedly threatened the man, shouting, “I swear I’ll show you and get you back,” before unleashing a string of insults.

The pair fled the scene, but not before a vigilant building guard captured the entire incident on video. The footage played a crucial role in helping Hawalli detectives crack the case.

Acting swiftly, investigators from the Hawalli Investigations Department, aided by a confidential informant and surveillance footage, identified the suspects and tracked them down to Salwa. Both were arrested and taken to the police station for questioning. During interrogation, the male suspect admitted to engaging in a heated argument and a minor scuffle after the complainant allegedly called him a "thief." The female suspect confessed outright to attempting the theft. Legal proceedings are now underway, with both suspects facing charges for attempted robbery, assault, and verbal threats.
