LONDON, Jan 14: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Saturday decried Iran's execution of a British-Iranian national who was convicted of espionage for service of the British intelligence apparatus. Sunak in a tweet described the execution as senseless and cowardly, carried out by a "barbaric regime that disrespects its people's human rights." For his part, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs James Cleverly lambasted the "barbaric act," warning that it will be "challenged." Iran shortly earlier declared execution of Alireza Akbari, who was detained in 2019 while he was serving as deputy defense minister, on charges of eavesdropping for the British intelligence (KUNA)
