KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: In response to a high volume of inquiries about visiting, working, or living in the UK, the British Embassy is pleased to share the following advice for Kuwaiti nationals, says a press release issued by the embassy. The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
-- An ETA permits you to make multiple short trips (including transit stops en route to another country), of up to six months at a time, to the UK for two years or until the passport used to apply expires -- whichever is sooner. Applying for an ETA on the “UK ETA” app (available on iOS and Android devices) is quick, cheap and easy. We advise applicants to allow at least 72 hours for confirmation of their ETA, but most applications are processed more quickly. You do NOT need an ETA if you already hold a valid UK visa. UK visa
-- If your application for an ETA is refused or you are traveling to the UK for a purpose/duration that is not covered by an ETA (e.g. to study a university course for longer than six months), you will need to apply for a UK visa (being sure to check which specific type you need). For visas of over six months duration, the UK has now transitioned from physical documents to electronically-held “eVisas”, accessed via mobile devices/ computers.
This transition brings significant benefits to customers, given they are secure, and, unlike a physical document, cannot be lost, stolen or tampered with. They can also be accessed anywhere and in real-time, putting customers in control of their data and allowing them to swiftly update the UK Home Office with new contact or passport details. Both new and existing customers will be/ have been advised of this change through direct emails from UK Visas and Immigration (UVKI) and should take action accordingly.
