Kuwait City, July 29: Burgan Bank recently hosted a ceremony celebrating 18 young women who completed “Empower Her”, the Bank’s summer internship program for undergraduate students. The event took place at the Bank’s head office in the presence of Burgan’s Executive Management, female leaders, and the graduates’ families, featuring the interns’ graduation project “My Female Role Model”, and highlighting their numerous achievements throughout the three-week program.

The internship program stems from Burgan Bank’s comprehensive social responsibility program, human capital development strategy, and dedicated efforts to empower women, aiming to pave a path toward a brighter future by supporting and developing the rising professional calibers and preparing them for leadership positions that will help shape the community.

“We are immensely proud to celebrate the graduation of 18 talented female students from the ‘Empower Her’ summer internship program. Their dedication, hard work, passion and impressive achievements throughout the program are a testament to their potential and drive,” said Mr. Bashar Al-Qattan, Acting Executive Manager – Learning and Talent Development at Burgan Bank. “We are committed to nurturing such talent and providing opportunities for professional growth and excellence. These young women have demonstrated exceptional skills as well as embodied the spirit of innovation and leadership that we value highly. Designed to enrich their skills  after the academic knowledge  by on-ground professional experience, “Empower Her” offered its participants the opportunity to experience different layers of the banking industry through one-week rotations. In addition to visiting different branches and gaining exposure to various departments, the interns were matched with female mentors from Burgan’s suite of female leaders based on their personalities and interests, guaranteeing that empowered female leaders continue to empower future generations of aspiring women.

The summer internship program also focused on introducing and honing vital soft skills necessary for succeeding in today’s workplace, such as communication skills, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and social skills.

It serves to note that Burgan is among the most achieved banks in Kuwait on the gender equality front, with women forming 45% of its staff. “Empower Her” is among many programs that Burgan Bank develops to guarantee the continuous growth and development of its female calibers within its workforce and across the Kuwaiti talent pool.
