KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The restaurant and café sector in Kuwait has witnessed a remarkable development recently, as the sector’s facilities have become the most prominent destination for citizens and residents inside the country. This has been accompanied by those in charge of restaurants by attracting all new foods and distinctive flavors anywhere in the world, reports Al-Anba daily.

This has led to the emergence of special Kuwaiti products that characterize each restaurant on one hand. On the other hand, local touches have added a noticeable diversity and competitiveness in the sector.

Despite the continuous diversity in the meals of restaurants in Kuwait, burger meals continue to be at the top of the list of favorite meals among citizens and residents.

Burger meals are the most requested meal by users of delivery applications for restaurants in Kuwait, and account for approximately 40 percent of those meals.

According to information obtained from sources familiar with the sector's business, one of the famous brands specialized in selling burgers controls more than 25 percent of the total requests of citizens and residents through various applications.

The most important factor behind burger meals accounting for 40 percent of the requests is the speed of preparation and delivery, as it does not take long until it is delivered to customers. Other factors include creativity, as each restaurant tries to put its own touches in terms of types of meat and ingredients used, including special flavors that has led the burger meal to witness an unprecedented diversity in the local market.

As for the remaining 60 percent of the volume of requests by citizens and residents for meals through the apps, their options vary but are topped by pizzas, Arab and Kuwaiti foods, sweets, and coffee.

In addition, sources said the volume of requests through apps has witnessed a significant decrease during the summer because a large number of the users travelled to spend the holiday abroad. Due to the noticeable decrease in requests during the past two months, the increase in restaurant prices did not affect the demand beyond 15 to 30 percent. The real impact of the move to raise prices has not yet been seen.
