KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: On Sunday, February 2, 2025, the Cabinet convened an extraordinary meeting at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. After the meeting, His Excellency Sherida Abdullah Al-Maousherji, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior, provided the following statement: The Cabinet began by offering its sincere congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the people of Kuwait, in celebration of the flag-raising ceremony held earlier at Bayan Palace.
This marks the commencement of Kuwait’s 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day festivities. The Cabinet wished for continued glory, prosperity, and stability for the nation. The Cabinet then reviewed a visual presentation by His Excellency Noura Suleiman Al-Fassam, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, alongside officials from the Ministry of Finance. The presentation detailed the draft decrees regarding the fiscal year 2025/2026 budget for ministries, government agencies, attached bodies, and independent institutions. Projected revenues are expected to reach 18.231 billion Kuwaiti dinars, while projected expenses are 24.538 billion Kuwaiti dinars, resulting in an anticipated deficit of 6.306 billion Kuwaiti dinars.
The Cabinet approved the draft decrees for submission to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Cabinet commended Minister Al-Fassam and the Ministry of Finance for their dedicated efforts in preparing the draft decrees. Their approval reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to timely approval of budgets for all entities, enabling effective project implementation and operational continuity. Lastly, the Cabinet tasked Minister Al-Fassam with releasing further details on the draft decrees related to the 2025/2026 fiscal year budgets. (KUNA)
