KUWAIT CITY, Dec 12: The Kuwaiti Cabinet adopted on Monday a decree, naming Ambassador Mansour A. Al-Otaibi as Deputy Foreign Minister. The weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah, also approved a decree to appoint Brig. Staff (Rtd) Mohammad Abdulaziz Bu-Erki as chairman of the national cybersecurity center with a rank of undersecretary.
The two decrees have been referred to His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for final endorsement, according to a press release from the Cabinet. The Cabinet commended the positive outcomes of the Arab-Chinese and the Gulf-Chinese summits as well as the 43rd session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held recently in Riyadh. This came in the weekly meeting, at the Amiri Airport on Monday, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Shiitan. Such summits reflected the keenness of the leaders of the Gulf and Arab countries, and China to achieve solidarity and joint integration, and advance the strategic partnership towards achieving the aspirations of peoples and common interests, he told reporters.
Then the Cabinet reviewed the results of the participation of the representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during attending the three gatherings hosted by the Saudi capital, Riyadh, last Friday. During the summits, the leaders, heads of delegations of the Gulf and Arab countries, and China’s President discussed the most outstanding issues that would strengthen the joint Gulf and Arab action. They stressed constants based on their policies of cooperation and solidarity in light of the current situation in the Arab Gulf region and the Arab region. Moreover, the Cabinet was informed about the departure of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, this afternoon, to the Italian capital, Rome, for usual medical tests, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow everlasting health upon His Highness the Amir.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Dr. Bader Al-Mulla briefed the ministers on the signing of a memorandum of understanding on developing the Durra gas field between the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and Saudi Aramco Gulf Operations Company Sunday. The memo aims to agree on a direct mechanism and implement the development of the field between the Kuwaiti and Saudi governments, in implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two governments on December 24, 2019. The Cabinet discussed the affairs of the National Assembly, and was briefed on the proposals submitted by the MPs. Afterwards, the ministers focused on the political affairs at the Arab and international levels. The Cabinet congratulated the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain on its 51st National Day next Friday.
On this occasion, the Cabinet extended its sincere congratulations to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the brotherly Bahraini people. It voiced the depth of the historical brotherly relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, praising the blessed renaissance and the distinguished achievements in Bahrain. The Cabinet also expressed Kuwait’s welcome of signing the framework political agreement in Sudan, lauding this deal, which is an important step towards achieving national reconciliation and ending the political crisis in the country.(KUNA)
