KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: As part of Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the quality of life, Ahmadi Governorate, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), launched a tree-planting campaign along the highways in the governorate. The campaign, which was held under the slogan of “#Together_We_ Plant”, is aimed at planting 100,000 seedlings throughout Ahmadi. The launch event of the first phase, during which trees will be planted along a section of the highways, took place on Saturday, November 16 under the patronage and in the presence of Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Boushehri, and representatives from various entities such as the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health’s Emergency Medical Department, Ministry of Education represented by Muhammad Al-Nashmi Secondary School, Kuwait Fire Force, and the Hadiya Cooperative Society were present at the launch event. Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud explained that the campaign aims to raise environmental awareness, contribute to sustainable development, and expand green spaces along highways. This effort will help combat pollution, beautify public roads in the governorate, and add an aesthetic touch to the area.
The campaign encourages the community to actively participate in environmental preservation and supports volunteer work in afforestation. There are plans to extend the initiative in various areas of Ahmadi Governorate. Sheikh Hamoud highlighted that the campaign would continue through several stages, involving all segments of society. Meanwhile, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Boushehri expressed his pride in being part of the campaign and thanked everyone for their contributions. He said the campaign is being organized in all governorates to promote community awareness of ornamental agriculture, and expressed his gratitude to all the participating organizations
