KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: Although the Kuwait Municipality sectors are committed to the replacement rate for Kuwaiti employees and the decision to stop hiring expatriates, there seems to be a need to gradually apply the replacement policy in accordance with the decision of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), instead of terminating all expatriate workers without finding alternatives, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources pointed out Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Rana Al-Faris is expected to submit a request for the termination of expatriate employees and consultants in the Municipality like the policy implemented in the Ministry of Public Works.

However, some sectors in the Municipality and jobs therein are considered unattractive for Kuwaitis, especially those related to correspondence, data entry and other positions that need expatriate workers, sources added. Sources confirmed the Municipality’s commitment to the decisions of the CSC regarding the replacement policy, which greatly contributed to ongoing efforts to reduce the number of expatriate employees as per the plan and the specified annual percentage.
