As per his official death certificate, the actor's demise is attributed to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis, defined by the Mayo Clinic, involves the accumulation of fats, cholesterol, and other substances on artery walls, forming plaque. This buildup, identified as plaque, can lead to the narrowing of arteries, impeding blood flow, and may even result in the formation of blood clots when the plaque bursts.

Weathers had been battling heart disease for an extended period, as noted in the death certificate. On Feb 2, at 12:18 am, he peacefully passed away at his residence in Venice, California. His son, Matthew Weathers, took on the solemn task of informing authorities about his father's passing. The official classification of the manner of death is recorded as "natural."
