BEIJING, Feb 8: Jin Xin, Assistant Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), emphasized China's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the State of Kuwait across various sectors. His remarks came during a meeting with Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Jassem Al-Najem, as stated in a report by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Beijing received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday.
Jin expressed China's eagerness to deepen practical cooperation with Kuwait under the Belt and Road Initiative. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations to ensure long-term, stable development.
In response, Ambassador Al-Najem congratulated Jin on his new position and reaffirmed the strong historical ties between Kuwait and the People's Republic of China. He emphasized Kuwait's dedication to furthering cooperation with China in a variety of fields to benefit both countries.
The Ambassador noted that the bilateral relationship has experienced significant progress, with high-level visits between officials from both countries playing a crucial role in advancing cooperation. He highlighted that major projects between Kuwait and China are expected to yield fruitful results in the near future, benefiting both nations.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed several issues of mutual interest, particularly China's firm stance on the Palestinian cause. Ambassador Al-Najem praised China’s position against actions that violate international law and humanitarian principles, commending its recent opposition to the displacement of the people of Gaza. He also reiterated China’s support for the two-state solution, which he stressed is essential for lasting peace and stability in the region.
Kuwait, being the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1971, has long been a key partner. Furthermore, Kuwait was the first country in the Middle East to sign a memorandum of understanding with China within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative after its launch a decade ago.
