KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: The Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei praised the Chinese-Kuwaiti relations that preceded Chinese relations with the Gulf states, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a press statement, he revealed that Kuwait was the first country to grant Beijing loans, and its partnership is strategic, affirming that his country will continue to expand the policy of openness with the Arab and Gulf countries.
The ambassador said the call for peace, development, cooperation, mutual benefit, and non-interference in internal affairs of other countries is the most important characteristic of the Chinese foreign policy.
He affirmed that China will remain a reliable friend and strategic partner for Kuwait in various fields, and cooperation between the two countries will serve common interests.
Ambassadir Jianwei expressed appreciation for Kuwait's support towards his country, as it is the first country to provide government loans to China, and the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with his country, due to which "we will continue to expand the cooperation relations between the two sides in various fields."
He also highlighted his country's support for the Palestinian cause since ancient times, affirming that his country stands with the Palestinians.
The ambassador said, "Our position is clear and firm, and therefore, the Chinese people have won the admiration and acceptance of the Arab countries. In recent years the Chinese-Arab and Gulf relations have developed rapidly, because we consider them an important partner for our country and we are keen to enhance development opportunities with the Gulf countries."
Regarding the date for establishing a free trade zone between China and the Gulf states, Ambassador Jianwei said, "We need more negotiations, consultations and time to reach an agreement with the Gulf states in this regard. The Gulf region is very important to us and we will exchange visits and international conferences. An international conference will be held in China in the coming months, and we welcome the participation of the Gulf countries."
He called on Kuwaitis to visit his country and enjoy tourism and the picturesque nature, adding, "China is open to tourists from all countries of the world. We welcome Kuwaiti tourists to our country. Travel agencies have resumed group trips for Chinese citizens to 138 countries, including five Gulf countries, except for Kuwait, which was not part of the list of countries as a tourist destination. There are direct airlines between China and Kuwait, and we are consulting with the concerned authorities to facilitate Chinese tourism to Kuwait.
