KUWAIT CITY Aug 14: Kuwait Government's official gazette Kuwait Al-Youm published several decisions in a supplement today. The first decision announced the revocation of citizenship for two women, by Article 9 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 on the Nationality Law and its amendments. This article specifies that if a foreign wife acquires Kuwaiti citizenship through marriage, she does not lose it upon the dissolution of the marriage unless she regains her original citizenship or acquires another nationality.

The second decision involved the loss of citizenship for another woman, based on Article 10 of the same decree. This article states that a Kuwaiti woman who marries a foreigner does not lose her Kuwaiti citizenship unless she requests and obtains her husband's nationality.

The third decision revoked the citizenship of 17 individuals—9 men and 8 women—under Article 11 of the decree. This article stipulates that a Kuwaiti citizen loses their citizenship if they voluntarily acquire a foreign nationality. Additionally, a Kuwaiti man's wife does not lose her citizenship unless she acquires her husband's new nationality. However, their minor children lose their Kuwaiti citizenship if they take on their father's new nationality. Upon reaching the age of majority, these children have a two-year period to declare their choice to retain Kuwaiti nationality to the Minister of Interior.
