KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: In a continued effort to combat the scourge of drugs and psychotropic substances, the Ministry of Interior has successfully intercepted a major smuggling operation. The General Administration of the Coast Guard thwarted an attempt to smuggle 164 kilograms of narcotics into the country, with an estimated market value of approximately 450,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

The operation was part of the Ministry's broader initiative to confront drug dealers and smugglers, aiming to dismantle criminal networks attempting to infiltrate the nation with illegal substances. The seized drugs were found hidden beneath the water tank of a boat arriving from a neighboring country. Five individuals involved in the smuggling attempt have been apprehended.

The Ministry has stated that the accused, along with the seized contraband, are being handed over to the competent authorities for legal proceedings. The Ministry of Interior reaffirms its commitment to maintaining security by monitoring and intercepting any attempts to traffic narcotics, thereby safeguarding society. The public is urged to cooperate with the security forces and report any suspicious activities through the emergency number (112) or the General Department for Combating Narcotics hotline (1884141).
