Cold air mass from Europe brings freezing conditions to Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 4: Kuwait is currently experiencing cold weather, influenced by a high-pressure system extending from Eastern Europe. The cold air mass is expected to bring cold conditions during the day and very cold conditions at night, with a possibility of frost formation in agricultural and desert areas.

Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorological Department, told KUNA that the winds are expected to be northwesterly to variable in direction, light to moderate in speed, and sometimes active. This will enhance the feeling of cold, especially during the night.

Al-Ali explained that Saturday's weather during the day will be cold, with northwesterly to variable winds blowing at speeds ranging from 8 to 32 kilometers per hour. Some scattered clouds are expected, with maximum temperatures forecast to be between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves ranging from 1 to 3 feet in height.

At night, the temperature will drop to very cold levels, with a chance of frost in agricultural and desert regions. Winds will shift to northwesterly to variable, with speeds between 6 and 28 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected to range from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, with the sea remaining light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 3 feet.

Looking ahead to Sunday, Al-Ali said the weather will be cold with increasing cloud cover, and the winds will shift from variable to northwesterly, blowing at speeds of 8 to 30 km/h. The maximum temperatures are expected to range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate waves between 1 and 3 feet.

At night, the weather will continue to be cold and very cold, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies. There is a chance of scattered light rain later in the evening. Winds will be variable to southeasterly, blowing at speeds of 8 to 28 km/h. Minimum temperatures will range between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius, with the sea state remaining light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 3 feet.

On Monday, Al-Ali predicted cold weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a chance of scattered rain. Winds will be southeasterly to variable, blowing at speeds of 10 to 35 km/h. Maximum temperatures will range between 17 and 19 degrees Celsius, with sea conditions remaining light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 4 feet.

At night, the weather will remain cold with scattered rain, which could be accompanied by thunder. Winds will shift to southeasterly to variable, blowing at speeds of 10 to 40 km/h. The minimum temperatures will range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with waves ranging between 2 and 6 feet.
