Cold Wave to Grip Kuwait: Frost Expected in Desert and Agricultural Areas

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: The Meteorology Department has forecast a significant drop in temperatures across Kuwait starting Friday, resulting in cold daytime conditions and very cold nights over the weekend, with a chance of frost in agricultural and desert regions.

Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department, told KUNA that Kuwait will be affected by a high-pressure system accompanied by a cold air mass originating from Eastern Europe. This will bring light to moderate northwesterly winds, sometimes becoming active, contributing to the sharp drop in temperatures.

Thursday: The day will be cool to moderate with northwesterly winds, occasionally active in coastal areas, at speeds between 12 and 40 km/h. Maximum temperatures will range between 10°C and 20°C, while the sea will have light to moderate waves, occasionally rising to 6 feet. At night, the weather will be cold, with minimum temperatures between 6°C and 9°C and winds at 11-38 km/h.

Friday: The daytime weather will be cold, with light to moderate northwesterly winds ranging from 8 to 32 km/h and maximum temperatures between 18°C and 20°C. At night, temperatures will drop further, ranging between 6°C and 9°C, with a high chance of frost in agricultural and desert areas.

Saturday: Daytime conditions will remain cold, with variable northwesterly winds between 10 and 32 km/h and maximum temperatures between 17°C and 19°C. At night, very cold weather will persist, with frost likely in certain areas as temperatures dip to between 4°C and 7°C.

The Meteorology Department advises residents to take necessary precautions, especially in frost-prone areas.
