KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reaffirmed its commitment to stringent regulation of commercial activities involving gold, jewelry, and precious metals. The ministry emphasized that it adheres to strict control measures in line with existing regulations and legislation. Continuous inspection tours are conducted within the gold market to uphold the highest standards of quality and integrity.

In a press statement released on Monday, Abdullah Al-Harz, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, addressed recent social media claims regarding the seizure of gold with counterfeit stamps. Al-Harz clarified that these claims pertain to an old incident from 2021, during which the necessary actions were already taken.

Al-Harz highlighted that a joint team from the Commercial Control Department and the Precious Metals Department regularly inspects the gold market to ensure adherence to quality standards, accurate scale measurements, and compliance with regulatory requirements during transactions.

He urged consumers to request an invoice when purchasing gold, detailing the weight, carat, and value of the items. Consumers can then take this invoice to the Precious Metals Department for verification.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stressed its unwavering commitment to enforcing the law, protecting consumer rights, and enhancing market transparency to ensure compliance and control within the gold market.
