KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The General Fire Directorate has confirmed its complete readiness to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day celebrations, as well as the holy month of Ramadan. The force has implemented comprehensive measures to secure mosques and Ramadan prayer halls, particularly those with high concentrations of worshippers, and to ensure the efficiency and proper functioning of fire safety equipment across all relevant locations.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of the Public Relations Department of the General Fire Force, outlined the detailed preparations undertaken by the force. He emphasized that the Fire Department has finalized its operational plans for the celebrations. These plans include the establishment of fixed points at the celebration and gathering sites, as well as the strategic distribution of rapid intervention units to ensure swift responses to any emergencies. Additionally, all fire centers have been instructed to maintain a state of high alert and readiness.
Brigadier General Al-Gharib further highlighted that all necessary equipment and provisions for the force’s personnel have been secured, ensuring that they are fully equipped to carry out their duties. He reiterated the firefighting force’s preparedness to respond to any emergency reports promptly. As part of the preparations, 18 key locations across Kuwait’s six governorates have been identified and designated for securing the national celebrations.
The Prevention Sector of the General Fire Force has also conducted extensive inspection campaigns at all venues where celebrations are scheduled to take place. These inspections are aimed at verifying the implementation of safety and fire prevention measures to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of all attendees.
Brigadier General Al-Gharib urged citizens and residents to cooperate with the fire force by giving way to fire engines, especially in crowded areas. He noted that accessing celebration sites during emergencies, such as fires or accidents, can be challenging, and public cooperation is essential to enable swift and effective responses. He also issued a stern warning against the use of fireworks, emphasizing that they pose significant risks, including the potential to cause fires and injuries, which could mar the joyous spirit of the celebrations.
Regarding the force’s preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, Brigadier General Al-Gharib stated that the Prevention Sector has carried out thorough inspection tours of mosques and Ramadan prayer halls, particularly those expected to accommodate large numbers of worshippers. These inspections focus on ensuring the availability and functionality of safety equipment, fire extinguishers, and other essential firefighting tools. As part of the special arrangements for Ramadan, five security points have been established at mosques with high worshipper density, with particular attention given to the Grand Mosque.
Brigadier General Al-Gharib also elaborated on the media and awareness initiatives undertaken by the Public Relations Department. An integrated media plan has been developed in preparation for Kuwait’s National Day and Liberation Day celebrations. The force’s own celebrations and events will be held near the iconic Kuwait Towers, serving as a focal point for public engagement. Additionally, a series of activities will be organized at the Fire Force camp, and awareness messages will be broadcast through dedicated programs on Kuwait TV and Radio. These efforts aim to educate the public on fire safety and emergency preparedness, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all during the upcoming celebrations and the holy month of Ramadan.
