KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: The One Stop Shop Department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry received more than 1,700 applications to establish delivery companies on the first day of lifting the ban on issuing licenses to engage in delivery business.

Sources said it is expected that the number of applications to establish a delivery company will increase daily until the end of this month such that the total number of applications will reach about 40,000 to 50,000. Sources explained those applying for this type of commercial license must obtain approval from the Ministry of Interior to engage in the delivery business -- one of the commercial activities under the General Traffic Department. It can be recalled that five years ago, the ministry suspended the issuance of licenses for delivery companies.
