Mayon Volcano.

MANILA, Philippines, Nov 6, (Agencies): The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the Mayon Volcano Observatory has detected an ongoing, gradual release of lava from the summit crater of Mayon as of Nov 6.

Between Nov 4 and the evening of Nov 5, the Mayon Volcano Observatory observed incandescent pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), also known as "uson," descending along the Miisi, Bonga, and Basud Gullies.

Phivolcs also recorded a total of 84 rockfall events and 141 volcanic earthquakes, including 139 volcanic tremors lasting from one to five minutes.

Furthermore, the emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) measured an average of 920 tons per day as of Nov 5, according to Phivolcs.

Given these developments, the public is advised to remain vigilant about the potential dangers associated with pyroclastic density currents, lava flows, rockfalls, and other volcanic hazards. The Mayon Volcano is currently under Alert Level 3.
