Court acquits ex-MP, others in high-profile vote-buying case

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Court of Appeals has acquitted all the defendants involved in the vote-buying case, including former MP Saadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi, of all charges. Saadoun Hammad had appeared in the previous court session and defended himself, insisting that the case was politically motivated.
Hammad, upon returning from London, surrendered himself at Kuwait International Airport to serve the two-year prison sentence with hard labor issued against him. In the earlier session, the Court of Appeals had rejected requests to suspend the implementation of the two-year prison sentence for Hammad and others for their involvement in vote buying during the 2024 National Assembly elections.
