KUWAIT CITY, March 2: The Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced a citizen to death for murdering his grandmother in Rumaithiya. In a previous session, the Public Prosecution demanded the court to impose the maximum penalty on the accused, that is, death. It described the crime as “heinous because the accused killed the victim, who was 85 years old, without mercy. He was stripped of humanity and did not have mercy, especially considering her weakness and old age.” The prosecution confirmed at the time that “the crime was not just an assault on a person; but a stab in the heart of human values, and it was not in front of an enemy who killed his enemy, but a grandson who killed his grandmother.”

The Ministry of Interior announced on Sept 27, 2024 that the Criminal Investigation Department, with the support of the Public Security Sector, arrested a person accused of murdering his grandmother after receiving a report stating that the crime occurred in a house in Hawally Governorate. Immediately after receiving the report, specialized teams from the Criminal Investigation Department were formed, and they succeeded in identifying the location of the accused and arrested him in record time.
