KUWAIT CITY, March 22: The Court of Appeals refused to release a former MP from the Fifth Constituency accused of vote-buying and adjourned the session for sentencing until April 9. The Criminal Court had earlier sentenced the former MP to two years in prison with hard labor for buying votes during the 2023 National Assembly election. The court also sentenced two other defendants to two years in prison with hard labor and another defendant to four years in prison with hard labor; in addition to imposing a fine of KD 2,000. The former MP was referred to trial after the Public Prosecution charged him with secretly agreeing with two brokers to buy votes and giving money to one defendant to buy votes in his favor.
