Court relocation, multi-story car parks, training institute get nod

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: The Capital Committee of the Municipal Council, chaired by member Dr. Hassan Kamal, approved three out of the six items on its agenda during its meeting yesterday. The approved items are: 1. The Ministry of Justice’s request to reallocate the site of the Constitutional Court and the Capital Markets Court in Granada Block 3. 2. A proposal submitted by member Fahad Al- Al-Abduljader to increase the number of multi-story car parks at Amiri Hospital. 3. The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters’ request to add a specialized training institute for teaching handicrafts and special engravings in Sadu within the Sadu House in Qibla.

The committee returned to the executive body to update its response to the proposal submitted by Dr. Hassan Kamal regarding the design and construction of longitudinal parking lots for the Dasma Cooperative Branch in Block 3. The committee reserved the proposal from the Chairman of the Municipal Council Abdullah Al- Mahri concerning the extension of the service street parallel to Street 85 in Shamiya Block 8. The Chairman of the committee Dr. Hassan Kamal affirmed the importance of designating a parking lot next to the Amiri Hospital, as the area is crowded with medical staff and visitors who necessitate the allocation of this site. He highlighted the coordination between Kuwait Municipality and the Ministry of Health to monitor the progress and implementation of the project. Regarding the Heritage Village Project in the capital, Dr. Kamal explained that it has been inactive for 15 years and was not properly utilized by the previous investor. Consequently, it was transferred to the municipality’s projects sector for oversight. The municipality has a vision for its implementation, particularly due to its strategic location.

The committee recommended returning it to the executive body for an updated response and inviting participation from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance, and the Central Bank of Kuwait. In addition, Municipal Council member Fahad Al-Abduljader commended the Ministry of Health for approving his proposal to increase the number of multi-story parking spaces at Amiri Hospital. He said,” If implemented, this proposal will alleviate the daily struggles faced by hospital staff and visitors in finding parking spots.” In a press statement, Al-Abduljader said the Ministry of Health revealed that the proposal had been studied by the Engineering Affairs of the Capital Health Zone and it concluded that there is an urgent need for a multi-story parking facility at Amiri Hospital, with a capacity for 1,000 vehicles. He affirmed that the committee discussed the ministry’s response and highlighted the need for the Ministry of Health to submit the architectural plans for the proposed building
