KUWAIT CITY, July 31: Kuwait's Criminal Court has sentenced a religious researcher from the Ministry of Endowments to five years in prison on charges related to state security. The sentencing follows the researcher’s involvement in planning bombings and supporting the terrorist organization ISIS.

The Public Prosecution revealed that from 2018 to 2023, the accused planned hostile acts against Saudi Arabia without Kuwaiti government authorization. These plans included violent attacks aimed at police officers and members of the Shiite sect in Saudi Arabia, potentially jeopardizing Kuwait's political relations with the kingdom.

The court also found the accused guilty of promoting and participating in ISIS, a banned group with the intent of undermining national security through terrorism. The prosecution noted that the researcher not only joined ISIS but also attempted to recruit his wife to the group, fully aware of its destructive objectives.
