KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: Seven days during which the bus stop was subjected to a torrent of popular criticism for various reasons, including the primitive manner posted by a social media activist on the Internet, has been removed within just one week, reports Al-Rai daily. It was opened in Hawally on Sunday, January 15, and was removed the following Sunday, January 22.

The model bus stop that has been removed in just one week

The criticism focused on what was called “a model project” that did not deserve all this media glamour, especially since it is the only one that has been modernized within the governorate, in addition to the fact that the road on which the bus top was built originally needed rehabilitation and is the first to be renewed.

Informed sources in the Hawalli Governorate explained to Al-Rai that the station was an initiative of the governorate and was opened in cooperation with the Kuwait public transport company and some other parties, to provide a model for passenger waiting at bus stops, equipped with all amenities such as comfortable chairs, air conditioning, lighting and surveillance cameras, in addition to protecting passengers from the bitter cold in the winter, and from the scorching sun in the summer.

The sources added that the aim of the initiative was to encourage cooperative societies, companies and philanthropists to donate in order to build such bus stops in all governorates, noting that the amount of ridicule, mockery and frustration felt by those in charge of the work prompted the governorate administration to order its removal within one week of its opening.
