KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Kuwait Shooting Club recently announced that the annual His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Shooting Championship will take place from November 8 to 16, with approximately 400 male and female shooters from Kuwait, the Gulf, and other Arab countries participating.

During a press conference, the club's chairman and head of the organizing committee, Duaij Al-Otaibi, stated that the championship marks the start of the club's 2024-2025 sports season. The event will feature all Olympic shooting competitions for both men and women.

Al-Otaibi added that the championship, hosted at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range Complex, renowned as one of the finest shooting venues in Asia, will include Olympic events for flying targets (skeet and trap) with participation from Arab champions. These competitions will be part of an Arab championship held alongside the main event. Additionally, the championship will feature pistol and rifle shooting, as well as archery (compound and Olympic categories) for men, women, and juniors.

He expressed gratitude for the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince, noting that the support has elevated the championship to one of the most significant sporting events, second only to His Highness the Amir's International Grand Shooting Championship. Al-Otaibi emphasized that the continued backing from the nation's leadership has enabled Kuwaiti shooting sports to achieve numerous major accomplishments.

Bashar Abdullah, Director General of the Public Authority for Sports, affirmed the organization's commitment to supporting the championship and ensuring its success in terms of organization and technical execution. He voiced confidence that the club would deliver an outstanding event. Abdullah also highlighted the authority’s dedication to strongly supporting Kuwaiti shooting sports and overcoming challenges, recognizing the efforts of the club's board of directors in fostering continuous victories.

Club secretary and tournament director, Obaid Al-Osaimi, mentioned that the organizing committee is preparing the club’s facilities to host the competitions at the highest standard, with the assistance of Kuwaiti and Arab refereeing teams. Al-Osaimi added that the Kuwaiti national team is fully prepared for the tournament, following their excellent performance in the recent Asian Championship.

During the press conference, the Shooting Club honored the Kuwaiti national team for their remarkable achievements in the Asian Championship in Kazakhstan, where they won a total of 10 medals (5 gold and 5 silver). Shooter Nasser Al-Muqalled, who won three gold medals in the trap and double trap events, credited his success to the thorough preparation provided by the club, including a training camp in Italy before the competition.
