KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: At a time that the country needs to achieve self-sufficiency in terms of the supply of fruits and vegetable, the price of cucumber increased by about 200 percent in some cooperative societies, parallel markets and vegetables markets, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily’s staff visited the markets in the last two days, during which they noticed the price of a carton of cucumbers increased from 200 or 350 fils to more than KD1. Meanwhile, sources attributed the remarkable price increase to the lack of supply and high demand. Sources said some farms in Abdally and Wafra were affected by weather conditions like humidity as it happened some days ago, indicating such conditions damaged certain crops especially cucumbers.
