KUWAIT CITY, May 19: In a collaborative effort between the Customs Research and Investigation Department at Air Customs and the General Administration for Narcotics Control, a significant shipment containing approximately 26.5 kilograms of marijuana and hashish was intercepted last Thursday, May 16, originating from Europe.

The seized narcotics

The operation unfolded when customs officers, utilizing the "Micro Clear" program, an automated customs system, flagged a package suspected of arriving from a European country as personal luggage via a shipping company. Subsequently, the shipment was halted, and a thorough inspection revealed two bags concealed among clothes, containing a large number of capsules filled with professionally narcotized hashish and marijuana. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to approximately 26.5 kilograms.

Following the discovery, the individuals involved were promptly apprehended, the contraband was confiscated, and they were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal proceedings.

In response to the incident, the General Administration of Customs issued a stern warning to anyone contemplating the smuggling of narcotics or prohibited goods into the country. Emphasizing the consequences, they stated that individuals engaging in such illicit activities will face legal repercussions, including customs measures.

This successful operation underscores the commitment of customs authorities to combat illicit drug trafficking and safeguard the nation against the infiltration of prohibited substances.
