KUWAIT CITY, Nov 24: The activities of the third edition of the Cyber security Education and Research Conference under the title ‘Capacity Building in Cyber Security and Awareness’ kicked off on Tuesday, and will be hosted by the College of Life Sciences at Sabah Al-Salem University City over two days. The conference, which is a joint project organized by the UK government in cooperation with Kuwait University, the Communications and Information Technology Authority and the Kuwait College of Science and Technology, will discuss techniques for protecting advanced technology and vital national infrastructure.
The conference, which includes a set of presentations and seminars on the most important challenges related to public awareness, capacity-building and local expertise in the field of cybersecurity, as well as exchanging experiences and establishing links between researchers from Kuwait and the United Kingdom. In the opening speech, Acting Assistant Vice President of Kuwait University for Institutional Development Dr. Dari Al-Huwail said that the university realizes the importance of education and research in the field of cybersecurity, and this was refl ected in its support and funding of related research and the master’s course in the field of information security offered by the Department of Information Sciences. For her part, Chargé d’Affaires of the United Kingdom Embassy in the country Sani Ahmed said in a speech on behalf of Ambassador Belinda Lewis that the conference is not only evidence of the existing cooperation between the two governments, but rather reflects the cooperation of private and public organizations and commercial sectors in academia.

Ahmed expressed her happiness to continue building the strong partnership between the State of Kuwait and the United Kingdom and to develop areas of cooperation with training talented people to be the best globally in combating cyber threats in the future. For his part, the President of the Kuwait College of Science and Technology, Professor Khaled Al-Baqa’in, said in his speech that the organization of the conference is a wonderful testimony to the success of cooperation between all contributing parties since the launch of its initial idea in February 2019. Al-Baqa’in affirmed the commitment of Kuwait College of Science and Technology to develop the education and research agenda in the field of cybersecurity in the State of Kuwait through its advanced programs supported by unique laboratories and facilities in addition to cooperation and effective research. , (KUNA)
