NETHERLANDS, Nov 23, (Agencies): A highly venomous snake has escaped from a residence in Tilburg, the Netherlands, raising concerns among local authorities. The municipality spokesperson informed CNN on Wednesday that the snake, identified as a poisonous green mamba measuring between 1.8 and 2 meters (6 to 6.5 feet) in length, went missing on Monday afternoon.

Escape of deadly snake sparks concern in Tilburg, the Netherlands as emergency services go on high alert.

Residents are being cautioned to maintain a safe distance and refrain from approaching the elusive snake. In the event of a snakebite, authorities advise immediate contact with emergency services, emphasizing the urgency of prompt action.

The municipality spokesperson assured the public that the tropical snake, known for its preference for warm and dark spaces, is unlikely to venture into the cold Dutch winter outside its owner's residence. However, authorities remain vigilant and are urging residents to report any sightings promptly.

While the specific species of the missing snake was not disclosed by the spokesperson, green mambas typically inhabit trees and are indigenous to various regions in Africa. These creatures, despite their potentially lethal venom, rarely pose a threat to humans, as their primary targets are birds, small mammals, and lizards. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising residents to stay cautious until the snake is safely located.
