Dear Khalil Al-Hayya, this is not how camels are watered

LIFE in the Gaza Strip has become unbearable after 471 days of war, starvation, and destruction. We must ask: Is this not enough? Should the suffering continue until the Iranian agenda is fulfilled and the Israelis are allowed more time to kill and destroy? What kind of victory comes at the cost of 50,000 lives, 120,000 injured, and such widespread destruction? When Khalil Al-Hayya speaks of victory, he must reconsider his calculations.

Similarly, Israel, after engaging in its longest wars, must reassess its approach and move toward accepting a viable Palestinian state. Israel must abandon its plans to annex the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the idea of establishing Greater Israel. That vision has become an unrealistic fantasy like a midsummer night's dream.

Going back to the Hamas Commander Khalil Al-Hayya, it seems he has forgotten the crucial role played by the Gulf States in pressuring the world to end the ongoing devastation. He also overlooked Egypt’s stance in refusing to displace Gaza’s residents to Sinai, as well as the wise approach taken by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in dealing with the issue.

Expressing gratitude to Iran indicates a misguided direction for Hamas, one that will neither benefit the Palestinian cause nor bring about the long-desired establishment of the promised Palestinian state.

Dear Khalil Al-Hayya, you have lost your way. For years, your actions have only served to prolong the aggression, and never came close to liberating Palestine. In fact, you moved further away from achieving your legitimate national rights. Hence we say to you "This is not how camels are watered."

From the beginning of this war, the world called for national unity, and urged all factions to unite under the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah. This, they believe, is the only way to end the suffering that has continued for 75 years. Yet, you chose to align Gaza with the forces of Iranian influence. You made this clear by thanking Hezbollah, Saten Party, Tehran, and other forces who are using the Palestinian cause for their own agendas.

When Muhammad Deif issued his first statement on October 7, 2023, he claimed it was a step towards liberating Palestine. But is that still true today, after all the suffering endured by 2.5 million Palestinians?

Everyone has the right to ask - What is there to celebrate? Should we reenact the scene of the tents, as though the Nakba is being renewed? Should we celebrate further oppression of the Palestinians in the West Bank and give the Israeli entity justifications to expand settlements and displace more Palestinians?

Yes, the people of Gaza Strip endured 471 days of legendary steadfastness. They faced unimaginable torture and terrible living conditions that no human being should have to bear. Many died from a lack of food and medicine, as Israeli attacks destroyed hospitals and shelters, killed children, and almost wiped out an entire generation. Is this really a victory?

Today, the four capitals that Tehran once boasted of controlling have fallen. Iran used to claim domination over the entire Arab world through those four capitals. Therefore, betting on the Iranian regime and those who manipulate the Palestinian issue has become a fantasy.

The region has witnessed how global powers quickly rallied to support Israel, as they considered Hamas and other factions supported by Iran as part of the axis of evil, whose mission is to destabilize many Arab countries.

The world will no longer tolerate the fair Palestinian cause being used as a tool to serve a fascist regime in Tehran that seeks to reshape the cultural and social fabric of a vital region in the world.

Why did Iran distance itself when the war on Gaza began? Have you asked yourself that question? While Israel aims to achieve its goals through Palestinian blood, Iran also profits from Arab and Palestinian blood. When Iran faces a blow, its leaders remain silent. In fact, they did not respond to Israeli attacks until they received the green light from the United States, which set the limits for any Iranian reaction. Khalil Al-Hayya and the leaders of Hamas and Jihad must learn from this harsh lesson.
