Debtor salary seizures in Kuwait to range between 25–50% under new system
Kuwait's Ministry of Justice

KUWAIT CITY, April 26: The Ministry of Justice has announced that the General Department of Execution has commenced modifications to its computer system concerning the seizure of debtors' assets held by third parties, specifically targeting bank accounts.

According to a press statement, the updated system will facilitate the seizure of debtor salaries through banks, with amounts ranging from 25% to 50% of the salary. The exact percentage will depend on the nature of the debt and the debtor's place of employment, in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

The ministry emphasized that the system enhancements are designed to streamline enforcement procedures and ensure compliance with the law. The modifications are expected to be completed by early next week.

The General Department of Execution is responsible for overseeing the implementation of court judgments, including the sequestration of assets and enforcement of financial obligations. The department's organizational structure includes specialized sections for personal execution, company and bank execution, state treasury funds execution, and offer and deposit procedures.

These updates align with the Ministry of Justice's broader efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial enforcement in Kuwait.
