Discount offers do not affect consumer right to return or exchange goods: Ministry
Ministry of Commerce guarantees consumers the right to return, and exchange goods even during sales and promotions.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding consumer rights. It emphasizes that the right to return and exchange goods is legally protected under Consumer Protection Law No. 39 of 2014. This right is subject to specific regulations designed to balance the interests of consumers and merchants.

The Ministry clarified that licensed promotions and discounts do not negate the right to return or exchange, as long as the return is made in accordance with the agreed-upon terms at the time of purchase. Consumers are required to return any associated benefits or gifts, such as discount coupons, raffle entries, or special offers, to ensure that the price refund is processed correctly.

In an effort to foster a fair and transparent shopping environment, the Ministry has called on all parties involved to adhere to the regulations to prevent any violations that could strain the relationship between consumers and merchants. To this end, the Ministry has urged consumers to carefully review the terms of return and exchange, especially during promotional periods or seasonal discounts, before completing their purchases.

These measures reflect the Ministry's ongoing commitment to ensuring a balanced shopping experience for all, protecting consumer rights while encouraging responsible business practices.
