NEW YORK, Feb 27, (Agencies): A physician from NYU Langone Hospital in New York City, Dr Kanokporn Tangsuan, tragically passed away after consuming a meal at a Disney World restaurant that allegedly failed to cater to her severe allergies, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her husband, Jeffrey Piccolo.

On Oct 5, Dr Tangsuan and her party were dining at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs. The lawsuit claims that Tangsuan explicitly informed the waiter about her severe allergies to dairy and nuts, seeking confirmation that the menu items could be served allergen-free. Both Disney and Raglan Road are said to advertise their ability to accommodate individuals with special food allergies.

The waiter purportedly assured Tangsuan and her party that her meal would be allergen-free after consulting with the chef. Despite this assurance, when Tangsuan received her order, some items lacked allergen-free flags. When questioned, the waiter reiterated that the food was safe for consumption, the lawsuit alleges.

Unfortunately, 45 minutes after consuming the meal, Tangsuan experienced a severe allergic reaction while alone in a nearby store. She self-administered her EpiPen but collapsed before 911 was called. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Tangsuan succumbed to anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nut in her system, as stated in the lawsuit.

Piccolo is now seeking $50,000 in damages from Raglan Road and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Inc. under Florida's wrongful death act. The lawsuit claims that Disney failed to adequately train its employees to ensure that food labeled as allergen-free was indeed free of allergens.

Brian Denney, Piccolo’s attorney, emphasized Piccolo's desire to prevent similar incidents, stating, “Jeff really wants to make sure that this never happens to anyone else. It’s very important to him that people are aware that people with severe allergies like this should be taken seriously. And he doesn’t want this to happen to anybody else’s family.”
