WASHINGTON, Feb 14, (Agencies): A 7-year-old girl named Sumaya Farah Ali experienced a harrowing attack by a group of dogs while walking back from school with her mother in St. Paul, Minn. According to the family's description on GoFundMe, the assailants were five dogs, and Sumaya sustained severe injuries to her face, including her nose, ear, and thigh. The extent of her injuries is significant enough to warrant potential plastic surgery, as mentioned by her family.

St Paul police promptly responded to reports of the attack, discovering the young girl with multiple dog bites. The owner of the dogs has been described as cooperative and voluntarily surrendered the animals to animal control. As of now, it remains unclear whether charges will be filed, as the police have not responded to requests for information on the incident.

In a recent update posted on Sunday, Sumaya's family shared that her swelling has subsided, and fortunately, she did not suffer major damage to her eyesight. The traumatic incident has left an indelible impact on the family, with Sumaya and her sister Munira expressing fear of returning to school. The family had originally come to the US for Munira's surgery related to a congenital heart defect caused by congenital rubella syndrome. Unexpectedly, Sumaya now finds herself in the hospital due to this brutal dog attack.
